Step 1: Cleanse
I always start my wash n gos on freshly cleansed hair. If I don’t my wash n gos never come out how I like them. Plus, clean hair allows your hair to absorb product better. I always double cleanse with a clarifying or detox shampoo. Then I follow up with a moisturizing shampoo. I have used a ton of shampoos over the years but my favorites are the QUAI Detox shampooing and Mizani Moisture Retention Shampoo.

Step 2: Deep Conditioning
Deep conditioning is must whenever I cleanse my hair. I want to start putting that moisture back in my hair. I’m not someone who will sit in deep conditioners for hours. Typically, I sent under my hooded dryer or steamer for about 15 mins. Find a list of my favorite deep conditioners here.
Step 3: Style
I get the perfect wash n gos using botanical gels. It’s a combination that keeps my hair moisturized for more than 10 days and makes the hairstyle last. I start off with a botanical gel like Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic and apply it evenly throughout my hair. Then I go in with a topper gel like Eco Style Jello Shot or Innersense I Create Hold using the raking method.

Step 4: Dry
As I stated, I hate wet hair. So I always set under a hooded dryer until my hair is completely dry. I honestly think sitting under a hooded dryer helps capture your curls, but also it would take my hair 5 business days to dry if I let it air dry.
Step 5: Stretch
This step is optional but I always do it. I stretch my hair so that I can show off my length. I’ve wore my hair in its shrunken stage enough. I like to show off the few inches I have.
